President says that freedom of expression was one of the most important catalysts for good governance

President Mohamed Nasheed has said that freedom of expression
was one of the most vital catalysts for a good governance system. The President
made this statement while speaking with the people of Felidhoo of Felidhe
atoll.
He said that this government valued the people’s right to
freedom of expression and that no person would be harmed in anyway for
criticizing the government.
President Nasheed, in his speech, also highlighted the great
importance the government gave for the development of the country and noted the
benefits of a decentralized administration.
The President also spoke on the developmental
plans for Felidhoo. In this regard, he said that the water and sewerage project
as well as the construction of 50 housing units in the island would begin this
year. In addition, he said the banking services would also be introduced in
Felidhoo in the near future.
