The department today released a notice informing that media council election will be held on the 28th April 2010 at the Seneco Malam of the Voice of Maldives. On the notice released today the department informs the publication of list of revised names of 14 public candidates that will compete for the council.

The Department of Information has released a notice(No: DOI-J/2010/09) today to inform that registered news and broadcast organizations that have not enlisted to vote in Maldives Media Council election can now enlist their names till 14:00 hours of 19th April 2010.

The voter registration deadline for Maldives Media Council has been extended to 4th April 2010 (Sunday). This was announced in the Iyulaan(notice: DOI-J/2010/07) released on 29th March 2010 from Department of Information.

The Department of Information has requested all registered news and broadcasting stations to enlist for the meeting to be held to elect the members for the Maldives Media Council.

The department canceled its notice on 04 November 2008 for application mentioning that the salary and allowances of the president, vice president and members were not confiremed by the majlis at the time.

The Government of Maldives has signed an agreement with Apollo Hospitals to mange Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital in Male’. The agreement was signed during President Nasheed's visit to Chennai, India.
