A Presidential Debate scheduled for 3rd september

Ministry of Legal Reform, Information and Arts has revealed that a Presidential debate would be held on 03rd september at 10pm. The deabate is scheduled to be held at Television Maldives. The presidential candidates would be asked 3 questions each which they have to answer in 3 minutes. All the questions would be on domestic issues.full story

Legal reform and information minister Mohamed Nasheed has said he believes a past theft conviction does not disqualify presidential candidate of Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) Mohamed Nasheed (Anni) from running for the top office of the country. Nasheed expressed his opinion in an article written in his own internet blog on the 20 th of this month. full story
Presidential Debate Postponed For A Later Date

Ministry of Legal Reform, Information and Arts have revealed that the Presidential Debate had been postponed for a later date.

When the event got cancelled, only 3 candidates agreed to take part in the debate. They are Umar Naseer, Presidential candidate of Islamic Democratic Party (IDP), Ibrahim Ismail (Ibra), Presidential candidate of Social Liberal Party (SLP) and Dr. Hassan Saeed who is an independent candidate.full story
A Presidential Debate to be held tonight organized by Legal Reform Ministry

Ministry of Legal Reform, Information and Arts has informed that a debate among the presidential candidates of the first ever multiparty election is to be held tonight.

Briefing the media , yesterday, at newsroom Fansavees ,Coordinator of the ‘Think Nation’ campaign as well as Director General of the National Classification Bureau Mohamed Hilmy said the objective of the debate organized under the ‘Think Nation ‘campaign is to increase the public awareness on the forthcoming presidential election. full story
President ratifies the new Maldives constitution

President Maumoon Abdul Gayoom has ratified the new Constitution of the Maldives at 10.32 this morning at a special ceremony held in Dharubaaruge. President signed in a Decree stating he has accepted the Constitution which has been written by the People's Special Majlis assembled by him.full story
18 member media team to go with President Gayyoom to cover SAARC Summit

Maldives to chair AIBD for the next 2 years

Maldives has got the presidency of the Asia-Pacific Institute for Broadcasting Development (AIDB) and thus the opportunity to chair the AIBD conferences for 2 years. The decision was made by AIBD in their 7th AIBD General Conference & Associated Meetings, held in Bali, Indonesia from 21st to 24th July 2008.full story
